Why is this wire hanging off my power steering? Is it supposed to be like that?

Found this wire just hanging off what I thought was the power steering. Is this normal, or should I fix it?

That’s actually the temp sensor for outside air. It usually attaches in front of the radiator.

That’s a vacuum pump, not the power steering, and that wire looks like an air temperature sensor.

Is it normal for it to just dangle by a wire? Seems like it should be bolted somewhere.

@Gerald
Could be. Do you have an aftermarket bumper? It might’ve had a clip that’s gone now.

That’s the outdoor air temp sensor. It usually snaps in front of the radiator. Check for a hole where it’s supposed to clip in.

Outside air temp sensor. It’s supposed to clip into the horizontal metal bar right behind the grille, but it looks like the clip might be broken.

That’s your ambient temp sensor. If the connector isn’t damaged, you can just secure it with a zip tie under the grille.

Turns out it’s not the power steering after all, but a vacuum pump.

“STEERING?”…where we’re going, we don’t need steering!
