Why are bead locks illegal for road use??? Please tell me the rational behind this.
Standard beadlock wheels use a clamping ring to secure the tire bead.
In the event of a rapid loss of air pressure at highway speeds, the tire might detach from the rim entirely.
Regular rims are designed to hold the tire even with deflation, allowing for a controlled stop.
They have proved to be hazardous on the road, generally unsafe for road use as they were created for offroad and racetracks. Dont use them as they can kill you or the next person. You never know
It’s because their weight causes the road to get dented and other drivers to become dangerous. Simply a matter of public safety. Certain states prohibit the use of 3/4 tonnes or more.
