Rancho steering stabilizer installation

I am planning to install a Rancho steering stabilizer on my '81 this weekend to replace the old stock one. Has anyone done this before and have any tips?

The kit is supposed to come with instructions, but the ones I found on Rancho’s website only cover up to 75 CJs, which isn’t very helpful. I’m thinking of following the instructions for illustration in the manual, Rancho SS install.

If any of you have experience with this, I would love to hear from you.

While the directions for a 1976-75 CJ may not completely fit your 1981 model, they should be close enough to take you through the installation of the Rancho steering stabiliser.

hi lincoln,park your vehicle on a flat surface, activate the parking brake, and use wheel chocks to secure the wheels. consult your vehicle’s manual for correct jacking and support locations, if necessary.
