Dropped the Jeep off at the dealer today for p0305 (cylinder 5 misfire). They pulled the plugs and they looked fine. They pulled the coil pack (sorry if this is wrong name, I’m not technical) and they said it tested good. They needed further permission to dig deeper because the they need to do a compression check. Has anyone have a similar issue?
Yes, I’ve experienced a similar issue with a cylinder misfire on my Jeep. In my case, the coil pack tested fine, but further diagnosis revealed a compression issue. It’s wise to authorize the compression check to pinpoint the exact cause.
A cylinder misfire commonly results from an improper spark production. If ignition coils, spark plugs, or spark plug wires appear to be in working order, the next step is to inspect the components adjacent to the cylinder, beginning with the manifold.
If your car’s check engine light shows P0305, it means the fifth cylinder isn’t firing properly.
This can happen due to various reasons like faulty spark systems or mechanical issues. Symptoms include rough engine performance and decreased fuel efficiency.
Ignoring it can lead to serious engine damage.
To resolve it, check spark systems first, and if needed, seek professional help.
The error code P0305 signifies a “Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected.” This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected multiple misfire occurrences specifically on cylinder 5 of your engine. Cylinders within your vehicle’s engine play a crucial role in power generation.
Frustrating P0305 misfire in your Jeep! Dealer checked plugs and coil pack, but misfire persists. Compression check is a good next step to diagnose further. Ask the dealer to explain their plan and possible causes before moving forward.
