Options for My Neighbor's Jeep Stuck in the Shop for 3 Months

I’m reaching out on behalf of my elderly neighbor, who recently bought a brand new 2023 Jeep. He specifically wanted an old-school feel with a manual stick shift and crank-up windows. Unfortunately, in May, the Jeep lost power while he was driving, and it was towed to the dealer.

The issue is related to a clutch recall, but for some reason, the initial replacement part didn’t fix it. Now, for the past three months, the dealer has claimed they’re waiting for a part made in a foreign country that’s experiencing labor shortages.

My neighbor has only put 4,000 miles on his Jeep, and it’s been sitting in the shop this whole time. I’m concerned about his options and what rights he has in this situation. Does anyone know what Jeep’s responsibilities are regarding warranty issues like this? Has anyone else experienced similar problems? I’m worried he might never get his vehicle back, and he’s 89 years old—he might not have much time left.

Contact Jeep customer service for assistance. Check lemon laws in your state; they might help. Consider escalating the issue or seeking legal advice if the dealer doesn’t resolve it soon.
