Jeep project today… MetalCloak reinforcing brackets for stock JL bumpers?

Tried out these new MetalCloak brackets to make the factory JL bumpers tougher. Hoping they solve the common issue of the bumper brackets bending during trail use. The factory ones are so flimsy that a little trail bump can mess up the tub. These brackets feel super solid, and installing them wasn’t too bad. Can’t test the departure angle properly until spring, but first impressions are good. Anyone else tried them yet?

The factory bumper brackets are super weak. Plenty of people have had issues with them bending on trails and damaging the Jeep’s body. These new brackets are heavy-duty, and I love that you don’t have to deal with those awkward carriage bolts anymore. Just thread in the Grade 8 bolts and you’re good. Can’t wait to see how they hold up in tougher conditions.

What material are the brackets made of? Would it be possible to drill your own holes to fit a different bumper?

The rear stock brackets are still in place. There’s also a right-angle bracket hidden behind the studs on the bumper. For third-party bumpers, it’s probably easier to just remove all the factory bracket setup, but theoretically, you could modify it if needed.

Not to derail the topic, but does anyone know if something similar is available for JKs?

They don’t call the stock bumpers ‘beer can bumpers’ for no reason…
