Help Needed -2020 Gladiator Mojave Trim Driver Door Issue & Electrical Nightmare

Hello jeep lovers…

I’m in a bit of a predicament with my 2020 Gladiator Mojave trim. The driver door was not unlocking by hand anymore, so I went to a mechanic friend for help. We replaced some wires in the door, but that didn’t fix the issue. We then moved that handle to the passenger side and the handle worked, so we realized the problem was with the driver door itself.

We tested the wires from the door handle to the plug and they worked fine. I read on one of the forums that unplugging the battery and plugging it back in could help reset things. When we did that, things went haywire: the car wouldn’t start, the lights started flashing, the windshield wipers began going up and down on their own, and now we have no clue what to do. It sounded like the fuse box was ticking.

Now the car is acting like it’s possessed . My mechanic friend can’t get any codes to pull up and I am freaking out about what could possibly be wrong and how much this is going to cost. The guy did this as a favor and now my car is stuck in the middle of his shop and I’m carless.

Any ideas on what might be wrong or what we should try next? Has anyone experienced something similar?

It sounds like you’re dealing with a serious electrical issue after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. The symptoms you describe—starting issues, flashing lights, and erratic wiper behavior—suggest that there might be a problem with the vehicle’s electrical system or possibly with the fuse box, especially if it’s making a ticking sound. This could be due to a loose or damaged connection, or a short circuit. First, double-check all connections to the battery, fuse box, and any wiring you recently worked on to ensure they’re secure and properly connected. If there are any damaged or frayed wires, they should be repaired or replaced. Given the complexity, it might be wise to consult a professional who specializes in electrical systems or visit a dealership. They can perform a thorough diagnostic to identify and fix the underlying issue, ensuring your Gladiator returns to normal operation without additional damage.
