Finally got my 4x4 trailer all done… thoughts?

Here’s the setup I’ve been working on for a while. It’s all ready to go now. I’m pretty happy with it, but curious what you all think. Added a link to the picture:

Man, that looks awesome!

Appreciate it!

Really cool setup. I’m curious about the long tongue on the trailer… is it for storage or something else?

Good question! I bought the truck bed and frame from someone who started the project but didn’t finish. They used that big I-beam for the tongue. I cut off the tent frame they had because it was too small and built my own.

So far, I’ve added the tent rack, lights, rear jack frame, and a solar power cell. Future plans include adding a side ramp for a small dirt bike or maybe a rack for kayaks. But for now, it’s camping-ready, and my first trip is Zion National Park this spring!

@Noel
Sounds like you’ve got some awesome plans for it! Zion is incredible… make sure to check out Capitol Reef if you have time—it’s a hidden gem.

That’s a killer build! Adding a bike rack or kayak holder would be sweet. Also, some fender flares would look nice and keep it clean from debris. Love the tent setup—makes me want to build one too!

That bed looks like it’s off an old Datsun. Fits the Jeep perfectly.

Good eye—it is a Datsun bed! Works great with my Wrangler.

Haha, nailed it. I just saw the other pics—it came out really nice.

That’s impressive. Just make sure you keep the weight balanced, especially with 60% in front of the axle. I learned the hard way once and had my Jeep getting thrown all over the road because the trailer was too back-heavy.

Wow, this is amazing. Only thing that could make it better is if it was built from a Toyota bed. Everyone knows Toyotas follow Jeeps best.

Haha, not trying to start any Jeep vs. Toyota debates here!

This is super cool. You might want to flip the stabilizer stands upside down instead of backward—if they fit that way.

That’s amazing work. Looks really solid!

Love the setup!

Such a cool build. Well done!

Half of this forum (and me) right now: Time to find an old pickup with a decent bed and frame and turn it into a sweet off-road trailer. Got to make it practical and awesome!

Great job, man. That’s some solid work!
