I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited. How long do the batteries usually last? I heard that AGM batteries last longer.
If I change the battery, will any settings get messed up? Some people say they haven’t had any problems.

Batteries usually last 3 to 5 years, but sometimes they can last longer. AGM batteries are good, and I only buy them for my vehicles, but they don’t always last longer than regular batteries. The big benefit of AGMs is that they don’t have liquid acid like regular ones.
Changing the battery shouldn’t mess up anything. You’ll probably just need to reset the clock.
A flooded lead-acid battery slowly loses power from the first day. You’ll usually notice it’s getting weaker and have time to replace it before it fails.
An AGM battery keeps working well until it suddenly drops in performance, often without warning. AGMs are more durable and can last longer in a vehicle. Some people with 2011 models still have their original battery and it’s working fine. But it’s a good idea to replace an AGM battery every 5 or 6 years as a precaution since they don’t give much warning when they fail and are hard to test accurately.
I still have the original battery in my 2014 Grand Cherokee, and it seems fine, but I’m planning to change it because I don’t want to risk going through winter with an old battery.
My 2012 had trouble starting when I got it recently. It has 99,000 miles and still had the original battery. I checked the voltage, and it was below 12! It’s amazing it worked at all after about 8 years, especially with all the electronics in the car. I think it lasted that long because it doesn’t get too hot under the hood anymore.
Thanks, everyone, for your input. I’m going to change the battery before winter. I’ve had good luck with Interstate batteries.
