Why won't the passenger seat lift forward?

Is the seat completely manual, or is there an electric component that releases it to move forward?

I have a three-year-old who needs to sit in the back seat. The mechanism that lifts the seat off the floor and moves it forward doesn’t seem to release my passenger seat. However, my driver’s seat works fine.

I’ve looked at it, but I’m not entirely sure what I should be looking for. I’m wondering if there might be something electrical involved because the driver’s side seat doesn’t seem to have much going on when I activate it.

Anyway, I’ve talked enough about that. I hope I’ve explained my issue clearly enough. If not, I can try to post a couple of pictures later tonight to show my problem.

Oh, by the way, my rear wiper and windshield washer don’t work either. Could this be a fuse issue? Or maybe a loose plug somewhere?

Once again, thanks for any help.

Hey Mason, I had a similar issue with my passenger seat not lifting forward. It turned out to be a small lever under the stuck seat. A bit of WD-40 did the trick. As for the rear wiper and washer, I had a blown fuse once that caused the same problem. Check your fuse box first. It’s a simple fix.

I had the same problem and I took my vehicle to a professional mechanic who diagnosed and fixed the issues for me. Remember, working with electrical components can be tricky and, if not done correctly, may cause further issues.

Sounds like a limit switch for the forward position. It may be sensing the seat is all the way forward. Therefore, not allowing the seat to move.
