Why is Jeep refusing to give me a loaner after major repairs?

Just need to vent about this. My 2019 Wrangler Sahara’s engine failed with under 20,000 miles, leaving me, my kids, and the dog stranded 100 miles from home. I traded it for a 2023 4xE Willys, and now, at just 23,000 miles, the transmission needs replacing. Both were covered under warranty, but Jeep won’t give me a loaner while they fix it.

My other car is a track car and not street legal, so I’m stuck renting a car out of pocket. It’s frustrating because brands like BMW gave me loaners even after the warranty period for minor issues. You’d think a major repair like a transmission replacement would qualify for a loaner.

I plan to fight Jeep for the rental cost, but it’s another headache I don’t need as a single dad with two teens. Just sharing this to warn others about what Jeep’s doing these days.

Costs like a luxury car, service like a junker…

With the 4xE, they probably don’t know how long it’ll take to fix. Those can sit for months waiting for parts. I’d ask for the Jeep customer service hotline and explain your situation. Mention the two major failures on brand-new Jeeps. If they still won’t help, it might be time to consider another brand.

Honestly… they don’t care.

Yeah, it’s hit or miss. I had a similar issue with Ford, and once I called corporate, they gave me a nice loaner and didn’t mess around anymore. But Stellantis… they’re circling the drain at this point.

Fight them on this and call Jeep Wave. They should cover rental costs for up to 30 days. My dealer doesn’t do loaners anymore but partners with Enterprise for Jeep rentals. Push for it.

Well, it might not matter now. They just told me the new transmission is on backorder indefinitely. Guess I’ll be car shopping after work.

@Oli
Yeah, a lot of 4xEs are sitting at dealerships waiting for parts. I’d recommend putting your next big purchase elsewhere. The resale value on a 4xE is going to be rough.

Yeah, I’m definitely not getting another 4xE, that’s for sure.

Jeep Wave or the warranty should help cover rental costs, at least partially. Check with the dealer or call Jeep Wave directly. They should help sort this out.

Sounds like it’s the dealership and not Jeep itself. My dealer provides loaners for almost anything, as long as they have some available.

  1. If they gave a loaner for every warranty repair, they’d probably be broke by now. :joy:

  2. Check your insurance. Most policies cover rentals, and they can fight Jeep for reimbursement.

Maybe stop buying new Jeeps and go back to the older ones. Anything pre-2001 is usually more reliable.

Exactly. I got a 4.0L and couldn’t be happier. Paid less for it than the sales tax on a new one, and it’s been rock solid.

My dealer still offers loaners. It might depend on the dealership.

JEEP… Junk in Each and Every Part. And they charge a premium for it too. Stellantis has really tanked the brand.

I’ve got a 2020 Jeep and love it, but reading these stories makes me nervous. I’ve started saving for repairs just in case.

If you’ve got the V6, you’re probably fine. Of the Jeeps I’ve owned, the V6 was the only one that didn’t give me problems.

Stellantis is in bad shape right now. They’re cutting costs everywhere—layoffs, production halts, plant closures. If your warranty doesn’t specifically mention a loaner, they’re not going to offer one. Check your paperwork.
