What is this little hose called? I sent my car to the mechanic to replace the head gasket, and when I got it back, there was no check engine light. I opened the hood and saw that this hose was disconnected and then reconnected to the intake manifold. Now I have a check engine light on. Can someone help me?
Try turning the key on and off three times without starting it. It’ll show the code where the odometer is. I’m guessing it’s p0441, which I think is an evap system hose.

I just got this Jeep, and it’s been in the shop since I bought it. I had no idea you could do that to check codes. That’s pretty cool! The last car I owned was a 1990 Miata, and you had to jump two terminals and turn on the AC to see the engine lights flash to figure out what was wrong. How things have changed! Thanks for the info, friend!

No problem! Is it a JK or JL? The code thing works on my JK, but I’m not sure about JL.

I think it’s a JK? It’s the older model, not the newer one. I also got codes p0300 and p0304, which is why I took it in. I’m feeling pretty worried right now.

Do the door handles have a round thumb button? If so, that’s the JK handle. The JL handle is just grab-and-pull.

Hope your mechanic didn’t charge you for that!

That sounds like a third cylinder misfire and a fuel injector issue, right? If they just worked on it and missed that evap line, they might not have cleared the old warning codes. Does it seem like it’s misfiring? Is it overheating? Just take it back and have them check their work and clear the codes. You should be fine.
