What does Jeep code P0471 mean?

I suddenly got a P0471 code, which put the vehicle into limp mode. It can’t go over 2000 rpm and has no power. I cleared the code, and it worked fine for about a mile before the problem came back. I tried replacing the exhaust differential pressure sensor with one from my son’s Jeep, but the issue didn’t change. I put my original sensor back, and the engine revs normally now, but the code is still there. There are no other codes. If it’s not the sensor, what could be causing this? The code shows up on both the Green Diesel reader and my other code reader.

When you changed the sensors, did you disconnect the battery to reset the system?

No, I just cleared the code, installed the sensor, and restarted the engine. I’ll try disconnecting the battery when I get home. Thanks!

I didn’t see the year, so I used 2006.

P0471 Code Meaning:

The difference between the Exhaust Pressure Sensor and the Atmospheric/Barometric Pressure Sensor is more than 400 hPa (5.8 psi) for at least 3 seconds.

Sorry, I forgot the year. 2007 CRD

Do you think the problem could be your turbo actuator? Many issues come from that part.

Also, look at the wiring near hot engine parts, like the AC lines. If the wires get too hot, they might cause short circuits and put your car in limp mode.

The turbo actuator is new and has a 5-year warranty. I’ll check the wiring when we get home.

Have you thought about the possibility that the DPF might be clogged? What kind of motor oil are you using? It should be MB approved 229.51. Using any other type of oil can cause the DPF to get clogged with ash. If that’s happening, the sensors are doing their job correctly.
