Jeep XJ 4.5" lift on 33s

Hey jeep lovers! I’ve got a 4.5” lift on my Jeep XJ and I’m running 33s, but I’m wondering if anyone else with a similar setup can share their experience. Hoping they will fit without trimming until I get the fender flares in a month. How’s the ride quality on- and off-road, and did you have to do any extra mods (like trimming or re-gearing) to make everything run smoothly? Would love to hear your thoughts and any tips you might have! Thanks!

They should fit without much trimming. We tested my buddies 33’s on his XJ with only 2" of lift and that was a lot of trimming, and he gets his 4.5" lift in a week. I wouldn’t worry.

I have a friend with a Cherokee that has a 4.5-inch lift and 32s. He only trimmed the flares, not the fenders, and doesn’t experience any serious rubbing. So, if you go with 33s and trim the fenders, you should be fine. If you add 2-inch spacers and longer shackles or blocks in the rear, you can probably run 33s without much trimming. However, you might also need longer control arms. Ultimately, you’ll need to decide whether to go for more lift or cut into the fenders.

I’m trying to stay away from trimming because I’m getting Bushwacker cut out flares in about a month and if I cut too much they won’t fit anymore ya know. So trimmng the fender is a no no til the flares.

If I took off the stock flares should that help? Until the new cut outs that is

Trimmed a little. It’s on 34" LTB’s, but they only measure out at 33.6".
