Extreme Terrain Situation… What Should I Do?

Hey everyone!

I’m in a bit of a situation with Extreme Terrain and I could really use some advice. I bought an item from them at a great price and received confirmation that the order was processed and shipped out the next day. I tracked it all the way to Oregon, and when it reached the FedEx location in Troutdale, the sender (Extreme Terrain) requested the item be returned. I called them, and the receptionist said it was because they had made an error with the price, and now they want me to pay a much higher price than I originally paid. I’ve never had this happen before. The money was taken out of my account, and the item was in transit to me before they requested the return. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I should handle this?

Also, I asked to speak to a manager, but no one has called me back yet. They sent me an email with a return request, but it looks like it’s something I requested, even though I didn’t.

I bought a bumper from them before and had the same issue. They delivered it, but then called me and said I had to pay more because it was marked incorrectly. I told them no, that’s why I bought it at that price, and they agreed. If the delivery had been before they noticed the mistake, I think they would’ve tried to do the same to me.

Wow, that’s good to know! I’m glad it worked out for you. I totally agree, I bought the product because of the price they listed.

You could dispute the charge with your credit card company. You might end up getting the item for free if the chargeback goes through.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into doing that.

I’ve been dealing with a double charge from them for months. They are terrible and honestly, a fraud.

That sounds awful, I’m really sorry you’re going through that. After this, I won’t be buying from them anymore.

I’ve had good experiences with Northridge 4x4. They’ve always had fast shipping and great customer service.

Northridge and Quadratec have been great for me too. Quadratec doesn’t always have the best prices, but they don’t pull shady moves like Extreme Terrain.

I’ve ordered from all of them and I agree, Northridge is solid. Extreme Terrain used to be good, but now I just want the item I paid for at the price I agreed to.

What was the item, and how much of a price difference are we talking about? Was it something like a winch for $50 that should’ve been $500, or is it something else?

It was a bundle for $226, which I saw listed similarly by others. I decided to go with this bundle, and I even ordered another item with a coupon. The customer service said they wanted the bundle returned because I got too good of a deal, and I had to pay the full price of $800. I’m really frustrated because I have screenshots of the price from when I purchased it, and I still got charged. I did receive the second item, but the first one was requested back.

@Finley
What was the bundle? What did it include?

It was a brake and rotor kit.

Sounds like a scam. They’ll charge you fees for restocking or returns, or ship only part of your order while charging you for full shipping. Companies like this have been pulling these tricks for a while. Make sure to leave reviews and never buy from them again.

@Corbin
That’s really disappointing. I’ve been a returning customer for a while, used to buy parts for my TJ before I got my JKU.

@Corbin
Maybe they really messed up, but it doesn’t seem like they’re trying to make it right for you. It looks like it’s all about them.

Exactly! And no supervisor has called me back yet.

@Finley
Can you be more specific about the deal you got?

Extreme Terrain is a terrible company. They sell low-quality import products and have a horrible return policy. They screwed me over on a defective order and refused to take the return or refund my money. Then they fought the chargeback, claiming they sent me the right products when they didn’t.
